As a daily volunteer litter picker for over thirty years, I’ve used many different grabbers. This is my tool of choice. They are extremely durable, lightweight, and cause far less hand, wrist, and forearm fatigue than trigger type grabbers. I actually developed carpal tunnel from the typical trigger handle models. I can pick for hours without concern.
I’ve purchased and used both the Dramm and Kiwi tongs. The Dramm is slightly more robust and the black foam lasts seemingly forever, while the orange foam on the Kiwi tongs lasts about a year with daily use. Both last far longer than spring loaded trigger grabbers, have no rubber nubs to fall off, and don’t snag on plants and bushes. They effortlessly remove cigarette butts from sidewalk cracks as well. The only drawback is grabbing heavy glass bottles, which can be tricky. Users of trigger grabbers should expect a short adjustment period. Many of my teammates have tried mine and have made the switch.
